Hold on to your hats

Sometimes it's hard to keep track of our lives, and our accomplishments. Photos, trophies, and other keepsakes seem to be one of the ways we can remember great stories and experiences we have had in the past. For Machine Zealots, hats seemed to be one of the ways that we kept track of some past accomplishments.

The top two hats were earned back when Machine Zealots was working on Project Spades V6.

The three bottom hats were earned since Project Impulse started.

Stillen sent me their hat and t-shirt back when I helped them promote their new 2010 Camaro V6 polyurethane splitter. Hurst Shifters sent me their hat and t-shirt back when I helped install and review their paddle shifter kit. Rally Armor sent me their hat and t-shirt when I installed and reviewed the Rally Armor mudflaps on the STI. Tireland's hat was one of the prizes for getting first place at the Corvette autocross event.

So what about the hat in the middle?

The Machine Zealots hat was actually made by a fan of the show! He made this hat, contacted me, and gave it to me. It was a very kind gesture, and I was very happy to accept this. I'll be sure to wear it on the show or even when I go to certain events. Thanks a lot Jason!

Only time will tell what the future will bring, but I am very excited for it!

Rally Armor sends their love

Back in June of 2011, Machine Zealots had just moved on from Project Spades V6 to Project Impulse. Not long after, we were trying to establish our name in the market, again. It was tough shooting videos and gaining new audiences from scratch. You loyal readers and viewers, who accepted us after Project Spades V6 tanked, helped us get back on our feet.

One of the earlier videos at the time was the Rally Armor install. Upon doing this modification, I simultaneously e-mailed Rally Armor about us, what we do, and asked for a partnership. Well, after six months of no reply, they finally e-mailed us back apologizing for the delay. A week and a half later, their care package arrived for us: A t-shirt and a hat.

If you have been keeping track, this is the third set of clothing from an aftermarket company. The Camaro days brought me items from Hurst Shifters, and Stillen. The Subaru STI only has Rally Armor at the moment, but I'm trying to convince Cobb Tuning for a set too, lol. I'm not too worried though, opportunities are endless, there will be more to come. These clothing items come in handy for the show though, that's for sure!

Care package!

A couple of weeks ago, I was taking some photos for Stillen. They had wanted some photos of their V6 Camaro Splitter products on actual cars, so Josh from Stillen asked me to snap a few quick pics for them to use. He told me he would give me a $25 gift card in return for my troubles. Frankly I don't work on my car, write on my blog, or make youtube videos for profit. I do it because I love to do it. Therefore, I told Josh that I'd take the pictures for free. However, he insisted on giving me something in return, so I asked for a Stillen t-shirt instead of a gift card.

Well, as promised Josh sent me some goodies in the mail! I like the t-shirt! Too bad it wasn't a Camaro printed on the back of the shirt lol, but hey, it's a gift, and I love it. It took about a week for the package to get here, and frankly I wasn't even sure it was coming, so I was very excited when the package arrived in the mail. Everytime I get a package at the door, it feels like Christmas morning. Anyway, as I have said, Josh sent goodies!

Why didn't I think of a hat? Well, thanks for the hat too Josh! The cap is a bit bigger than my head size, but it is still wearable. I went to the bank today, and the teller asked me if I was a big racing fan. I was kind of shocked and confused at why he had asked, and before I could answer he pointed to my hat. We talked for a bit, and he told me he used to drive a Mustang GT, and I told him that I drive the Camaro. It's funny how conversations can be started just by the clothing apparel you wear.
